     2012年4月30日 至5月2日 ，在馬來西亞沙勞越州首府古晉舉行世界針灸學會聯合會（WFAS）學術大會。

　　馬來西亞聯邦由馬來半島及北婆羅洲組成，面積約33萬平方公尺，總人口為2千2百70萬人。首都為吉隆坡巿，人口約150萬。馬來西亞是一種多種族國家，其中馬來人和土著約佔60%，華人約佔30%（600萬人），印度人佔9%（200萬人）。馬來人政治勢力較大，而華人在經濟方面佔優勢。馬來西亞憲法規定回教是國教，但個人則享有宗教開放自由。官方語言是馬來語與英文。由於華人佔30%，故華語、廣東話及福建話也通用。

　　馬來西亞中醫藥歷史悠久，超過70%國民應用傳統醫藥，尤其中醫藥，馬來西亞擁有著名熱帶雨林，超過2萬種有研究價值藥用植物，馬來西亞有28個族群，各族群也有各自傳統醫藥，馬來西亞有3大族群，普遍使用英語，其中有許多華裔，最完整及普遍華文教育，華語相當廣泛。

　　古晉，位於東馬來西亞沙勞越州的首府，是馬來西亞最大城巿，也是整個婆羅洲較大的城巿，在馬來西亞城巿中名第4大城巿。古晉的譯音，在馬來語中為「貓」，故古晉也稱「貓城」，但與貓無關。古晉是一個歷史悠久的貿易中心，為富有文化遺產的城巿。

　　馬來西亞政府肯定中醫藥療效，在9間政府醫院設立中醫門診部，包括3間中醫藥輔助治療癌症。馬來西亞首於2006年承辦世界針灸聯合會「2006年世界針灸學術研討會」非常成功。馬來西亞政府歡迎及批准符合條件的外 國中 醫師在馬來西亞開業行醫。目前馬來西亞衛生部承認北京、南京、上海、廣州與天津，5間中醫藥大學的臨床中醫學士學位。台灣的中醫藥大學在這方面尚要努力爭取。

　　馬來西亞的民辦中醫藥教育已超過半世紀的歷史，培養出中醫藥專人，為規範中醫教育，在政府鼓勵下，馬來西亞已有5間大專院校設有中醫學系，其中馬來西亞管理與科技大學（MSU）。目前馬來西亞約有2萬間中藥店及7千間中醫診所，超過70個中醫藥團體。

June 15-16, 2012



June 15-16, 2012 Indiana University (Indianapolis) will host the first of two
conferences* aimed to increase understanding of Western medicine (xiyi in
Chinese) in modern China in the pre-Maoist period.



We invite conference papers to examine the establishment of this new medicine
which left archives tracing new directions in the health of China ’s women,
children and men, patient-physician relationships, and conflicting and merging
theories and practices of healing. We wish to encourage the growing scholarship
in this field with basic institutional research and broader topics in the
social and cultural history of health and medicine. Understudied topics in the
field include: hospital-based studies of specific diseases; the rise of medical
leaders trained in China; Japanese and European influence in various periods;
the role of military medicine, and of medicine in war; change and continuity of
specific institutions that merged or were abandoned; racial medicine,
anthropometry and physical anthropology among physicians; missionary physicians
and Chinese physicians abroad as two-way conduits of global and local medical
knowledge; and cooperation and conflict in Chinese and foreign medical
philanthropy. Despite recent advances, the field of possible topics is still
extremely broad; paper proposals on these and other topics are welcome.



Selected conference papers will be included in a peer-reviewed, edited volume.
We welcome proposals from both established scholars and senior graduate
students.



Please submit an abstract of 250 words, along with a brief CV, no later than
December 1, 2011.

“亞洲的毒品和酒精：歷史研究的新視野”國際會議徵文公告

 

2012年6月22－24日，上海大學，中國·上海

 

1912年《海牙鴉片公約》簽署百年，標誌著國際社會管制精神藥物發展的百年史。此次會議旨在就國際禁毒體系源起和演變的最新研究成果進行研討，以交流新近的研究心得和提出新出現問題的解決之道。鑒於亞洲在國際毒品問題和國際禁毒體系建立過程中重要地位，會議將聚焦于亞洲的毒品和酒精。會議特別關注以下方面的問題：

1、亞洲歷史上精神藥物市場的最新研究

2、亞洲精神藥物的消費者與毒品市場的互動研究

3、亞洲各國政府禁毒政策研究

4、精神藥物對亞洲和帝國商業網絡影響研究

5、亞洲精神藥物消費者態度和觀念演變及影響研究

除上述主題外，會議主辦方也鼓勵參會者能就所有精神藥物從新的視角開展歷史研究。儘管會議的主旨聚焦于亞洲，但是也非常鼓勵就此問題開展比較研究。其目的是讓全球研究與精神藥物相關問題的學者再次把目光投射到1961年前的亞洲。

請於2011年12月15日前將申請小組討論主題和論文摘要（英文300字以內）通過電郵發送至zhangyongan@shu.edu.cn和 jim.mills@strath.ac.uk和spillane@ufl.edu 。經過評審，2012年1月16日會議主辦方將通過郵件通知申請結果，並發出正式邀請函。參會者請於2012年4月30日前提交論文全文（英文5000字以內）。會議論文將在會後結集出版。

會議將于上海大學寶山校區舉行，上海大學將為參會代表提供會議期間的食宿。參會代表往返交通費自理。

　　本研習營的基本目的有二：一在培養台灣研究中國歷史、 文化的 博士生
和年輕學者，前往中國大陸作田野調查的興趣與習慣，並希望透過實際的田
野考察和地方視角，對文獻有深刻而新鮮的體認與解讀。二在促進兩岸文史
科系的博士生和年輕學者深入而密集的知識交流與激盪。

　　我們希望藉著走進歷史現場，經由田野考察和文獻研讀，對某一地域的
歷史文化有切身和更深刻的體認。在研究取徑上，除了受到人類學和村落為
重的範式的啟發外，我們也將從成都悠久、豐富的歷史文化中汲取養分。
換言之，我們將整個成都及周邊地區當成田野的對象，文獻的範圍也從村落的
碑銘、譜志等擴及古代菁英階層的文獻。同時爲了因應四川特有的歷史文化

看來醫療史在對岸也如火如荼的展開了，過去醫史在大陸並非主要的史學研究領域，不過有些內史的學者談論、或做為社會史的一個分支而已。最近十年，套一句對岸的研究觀察：「醫療衛生史研究呈現『井噴』現象。」特別是在北京大學舉辦古典醫史的相關會議，意義格外重大。謹貼出供學友參考吧。

 

徵稿啓事

“中古方書：醫學史、書籍史和社會史的解讀”研討會

北京大學中國古代史研究中心，9月18日

 

方書在中古醫學史中具有特殊的位置，魏晋南北朝至隋唐医籍中方书的大兴是重要的特点。但與方書相關的諸多問題仍在迷霧之中，中古方書如何從中國古代醫學的經典時代變化而來，而又如何轉化成宋金元醫方，在此過程中它與醫學經典理論以及醫學知識的其他門類（比如本草學）如何互動？中古方書呈現出怎樣的疾病分類和治療理論，又折射出怎樣的社會醫療實踐？同時，方書中的知識變化並非僅僅與其内容相關，中古書籍的物質形態也在發生著巨大的變化，漢晉之間紙張取代簡帛成爲主要書寫載體，晚唐至宋，印刷技術介入醫學書籍的製作，這些變化如何影響了方書？中古時期使用方書的群體爲何？不同群體接觸方書的途徑、閲讀和使用方書的方法有何不同？其中涉及了族群、性別乃至中外交流等多種議題。這些追問將方書放在了一個理解中古醫學、社會、文化閲讀的交叉點上，對其的探索，會揭示出中古醫學史、社會史和書籍史的多重圖景。出土文獻中的醫方（吐魯番、敦煌）和傳世的醫方書爲我們提供了可相互參考的研究對象。

“Re-reading Chinese Medieval Recipes: Textuality,
Materiality and Sociality”

Recipes were the
most important and under-researched theme in the medical history of Medieval
China, because recipes were becoming the most widely used and read medical
writings in this period. Moreover, they were experiencing multiple
transformations from its origins: their relationships with the medical canons,
diseases and healing techniques represented by them, their material medium,
techniques of book production, and the social groups who read and used these
recipes. A comparative research on recipes excavated and recipes handed down
from the ancient time will provide us various ideas on the social and cultural
context of these recipes.

版主：我想和努力寫作的大家分享。畢竟，當別人認為歷史沒有趣味的時候，或是有學生跟我說，醫療衛生史不是歷史，絕對不會考等這些話出來時，我就會陷入一種很沉的思考，我們究竟在生產或教導什麼樣的知識？

 

侯文詠：既然暢銷，就不想諾貝爾

    不要被侯文詠騙了。

    他總是一派儒雅親和，溫文地坐在你眼前，你還有點擔心這位老師會不會是個筆比嘴精的悶葫蘆時，他已經開始滔滔不絕地串連你的問題；你以為他只關注在你與他的對話內容當中，殊不知，他已經從你片段的三言兩語發問，敏銳而精準地感知到你在這些問題的背後，究竟想要知道些什麼──那些什麼，可能與你的訪談內容無關，而是與你個人的階段煩惱有關。

    或是像他這次的新作《帶我去月球》，如果你只是看那封面上繽紛歡樂的圖畫、無重力的漂浮狀態，便將這部作品以一種輕鬆無負擔的家庭喜劇等閒視之，那你可能又被騙了。

    「很多讀者跟我說，這本書，他們看到一半，就看不下去了。」侯文詠自己承認。

    看不下去的原因，並不是因為不好看（怎麼可能）。而是如前所述，一開始翻閱時，以為自己不過是讀起一本輕鬆無負擔的家庭喜劇，以為只是再來看看大潘一家子又搞了什麼笑鬧，沒想到看著看著，裡面的每一句對話、每一段情節，都栩栩如生地仿若真實，甚至就像自己家裡曾經上演過的劇碼、曾經流轉過的情緒、曾經破裂過的導因。在沒有任何心理準備之下（或說是在錯誤的心理準備之下），凡此種種意外的衝擊，讓人在整段閱讀過程中，怎麼也無法保持一貫的愉悅態度，可能讀著讀著就生起氣來，甚至，哭了起來。

    這就是侯文詠的力量。

     二十多歲一手行醫一手寫作，三十六歲決定放下醫師身分，轉而成為專職作家。侯文詠至今累積的作品不至等身，個性上的低調也讓他不甚喜歡在幕前曝光，然而不論是他的作品或他的人，都相當容易在讀者印象裡快速而踏實地攻下一定的地位，難以撼動。這或許是他自出道以來便具備的「市場」與「暢銷」特質，即便他自己最初並不喜歡。

    「其實不管是當醫生也好，當作家也好，這兩個身分最後都必須面臨同一個問題：我到底在幹嘛？」

    侯文詠總是惦著母親對他的疑問：「我媽以前常說：你做醫生救一個算一個，這輩子就算醫術再爛，總也是救一些人。但是你寫作，到底是幫了別人，還是害了別人？」侯文詠不諱言，作家的意義不若醫師那般紮實單純，在寫作過程中，連他自己都不斷地在思考，究竟，作家得是什麼？

    當他終於決定專心寫作，他回頭整理他的條件，發現自己所具備的，連自己都不是那麼喜歡。「在寫作上，我唯一擁有的身分，就是所謂的『暢銷作家』。」銷售數字說明一切，但背後所藏的意義可能不是太令人舒服，「我一開始對暢銷這件事其實是有疙瘩的，因為我以前也是拿文學獎、也是個純文青。」暢銷可能意味著通俗、意味著流行，意味著你寫得並不是那麼好，也可能表示你只有虛名，不是實力派。「就像有些歌手不喜歡人家稱他們是偶像明星一樣，」侯文詠坦承自己最初對這個稱號的確避之唯恐不及，但是你又不能要自己不暢銷，「那聽起來很虛假。」他說。但是暢銷的意義是什麼？對侯文詠而言，只是暢銷，並無法讓他滿足。

    「如果我要的只是收入和名氣，那我繼續當醫生就好了。」在這樣一邊寫作一邊摸索身分意義時，侯文詠先後交上了《白色巨塔》、《危險心靈》、《靈魂擁抱》等過去無法寫就的長篇作品，終於有機會完整地說些屬於台灣當代眾人所生活、所經歷、所面對的故事。「我記得《白色巨塔》出版前一天，出版社打電話給我，說這本書有別於過去作品的短小輕薄，怕市場反應不會太好，要我有心理準備。」侯文詠笑說，當下他就像個被宣判罹癌的病人，但這件事對他而言卻是非做不可的。「因為台灣這二、三十年變化很快，我們經歷的是所有活在這塊土地上的人從沒經歷過的事，可是大家在文學裡很少描述這部分，所以我就回來寫。」

    《白色巨塔》的熱賣，接續帶動了幾部作品的反應；改編成電視劇後，又形成另一股風潮。侯文詠回想，電視劇播映的那一段時間，每天時間一到，公視的網站一定當機，一堆人湧上去回應他人的遭遇，分享自己的故事，「你就看到那麼多人在那邊講著他們的人生、他們的痛苦，那是一種很可怕的共鳴。」在那一刻，侯文詠得到的是一種前所未有的衝擊，仿若觸電。「我在那一瞬間才理解到，我那暢銷作家的身分，帶我碰到了整個社會的集體潛意識底層，它是一個我可以去代言這個區塊的身分。」

Science, Technology, and Medicine in East Asia : Policy, Practice, and Implications in a Global Context

Since the end of World War II, historical and contemporary developments in East Asian science, technology, and medicine have received increasing scholarly attention partly due to historian of Japanese science James R. Bartholomew's career-long commitment to the field and his mentorship of a younger generation of scholars.

This interdisciplinary conference proposes to examine the ways in which the sciences in East Asia – whether basic or applied, from technology to medicine—have shaped and been shaped historically, and are being transformed in the contemporary world by political, economic, institutional, social, and cultural forces, both regional and global.

In honor of and reflecting the career of Professor Bartholomew, the organizing committee invites complete panel proposals, as well as proposals for individual papers, round table discussions, or poster presentations on modern Japan and East Asia, especially, but not limited to, themes which engage the interstices between any field of science, technology, or medicine and such topics as social and political policy, national security, gender, environment, justice, aesthetics and values and the like, as well as other topics.

Complete panel proposals and round table sessions should be comprised of three or four persons, including the chair/discussant. A panelist may also serve as chair. We also welcome creative panel formats. If you are interested in serving as a discussant for another panel, we ask that you send a short cv and statement of interest and specialty in a single attachment named with your last name and the word “discussant,” e.g., “Smith discussant,” to David.Blaylock@eku.edu .

第二屆「科技與社會研究生論文研討會」

徵稿啟事

 

 

「科技與社會」（Science, Technology and Society，簡稱 STS）為近年新興之研究領域，關注科技、醫療與社會文化和歷史之相互影響，以及科技、醫療研發中的文化、歷史與社會議題，對於發展高科技的台灣產業與社會至為重要。目前STS相關領域的發展已引發學界之高度興趣，各類互動與交流也日漸蓬勃。然而，現階段較缺乏專門為台灣STS研究生所設計之跨校、跨領域之交流平台與機制。

 

有鑑於此，2011年 6月初，將在「台灣聯合大學系統」「科技與社會」計畫下，由清華大學 STS 小組來負責規劃「第二屆科技與社會研究生論文研討會」。藉此次活動，希望能達到促進研究生互動，凝聚社群向心力，及提升論文寫作與獨立研究之能力。希望國內對STS研究感興趣的學子，踴躍投稿、共襄盛舉！﹗

 

 

一、徵稿領域

 

任何與STS相關領域，如科學、技術、醫療、健康等相關之人文社會研究（歷史、社會學、人類學、哲學、政策以及性別研究等）。

國內外碩、博士班學生（含碩士畢業生、不含博士畢業生）

 

三、徵稿期限、字數與語言 ：

摘要2011年2月28日 （星期一）前繳交，字數限 500 至 1,000 字。

全文2011年5月15日 （星期日）前繳交，字數限 10,000 字至 20,000 字。

中文、英文稿皆可，會議發表時亦可選擇採用中文或英文。

The International Society for the History of East Asian Science, Technology, and Medicine (ISHEASTM) will hold its Thirteenth International Conference at the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui, July 25-29, 2011. The central theme for the Thirteenth Conference will be “Science and Cultural Heritage”. In addition to providing a forum for the latest scholarship in the history of science, technology and medicine in East Asia as usual, the Organising Committee of the 2011 conference encourages the discussion on the exploration, protection, conservation and contemporary significance of the tangible and intangible heritage related to the development of science, technology and medicine in East Asia .

VENUE AND ACCOMMODATION
Due to the unexpected high price of the conference facilities in the hotel we have chosen in the Huangshan city, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) decided to change the conference venue back to Hefei, the home city of the University of Science and Technology of China, and to organise an after-meeting field trip to the Yellow Mountains and its peripheral areas.
The main venue of the conference will be in the Eastern Building , Daoxianglou Hotel (literally Rice-Fragrance Pavilion Hotel). The hotel is the state guesthouse of the Anhui province, located in a green and gardenlike area near the downtown of Hefei , about 1.7 kilo-meters from the Eastern and Western Campuses of the University of Science and Technology of China. Since its opening in 1956, the hotel has accommodated Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jingtao and many other national and foreign leaders. In addition to a complete set of professional conference centre, it also provides high quality foods, rooms and facilities at economic rates.
The prices for different type of rooms are as follow.
(1) Standard room (double beds with television, internet and bathroom): 260 RMB/night per room, breakfast for registered participants;
(2) Business suite (a sitting room plus a bedroom with television, internet and bathroom): 580 RMB/night per suite, breakfast for registered participants;
(3) Standard room in the villa styled building (double beds with television, internet and bathroom): 700 RMB/night per room, breakfast for registered participants;
(4) Business suite (a sitting room plus a bedroom with television, internet and bathroom): 2100 RMB/night per suite, breakfast for registered participants.
Internet service in all rooms has to be opened at a cost of 20 RMB/day. Chinese website of the hotel can be found at http://www.dxlhotel.com.
The hotel also has a cafeteria for lunch and supper. The price is 90 RMB/person per meal.

CONFERENCE FEES
Early-Bird Registration between 1 Nov 2010 and 1 Mar 2011:
Standard Rate US$260;
Concessionary Rate US$130, for graduate students, post-docs within 5 years of Phd and retirees;
Guest/Companion Rate US$100, for those accompanying someone paying the standard or concessionary rate;
Day Registration US$50, for one specific day only, two days maximum; Otherwise the weekly rate must be paid;
Registration after 1 Mar 2011, including On-Site Registration: An extra US$20 for students and US$40 for all others will be added to the Early Bird Fees.

Registration for the conference automatically confers membership of the society for four years except for weekly guest or day participants. Members of the society receive its journal East Asian Science, Technology, and Medicine. Fee also includes breakfasts, three banquets, tea breaks, a field trip, but does not include the after-conference tour to the Yellow Mountain Area.

Cancellation Policy:
All Cancellations must be received in writing and emailed to ichsea@ustc.edu.cn by 1 May 2011 for full refund. After May 1, a $75 cancellation fee will apply.

Funding:
The organizers will provide some local subsidies for the registration fees for students and participants whose financial circumstances would otherwise make it impossible for them to attend. Awards will be made on the basis of the quality of abstracts and a statement of financial need, which will be evaluated by a panel of committee members (travel expenses not included). All applications for awards should be emailed to Prof. SHI Yunli or Dr. LÜ Lingfeng at ichsea@ustc.edu.cn and must be received before 1st February 2011. Later applications will not be considered.

〈醫療、科技與性別〉

醫療、科技、醫療科技都是社會文化的產物，其中蘊含的意涵，及其提供與使用都是鑲嵌在當時的性別、階級、族群的社會文化關係脈絡中。在英語學術圈中，這方面的研究斐然有成，但是台灣這方面的成績尚在起步中。為了彌補這方面的缺失，本期刊編委會特別發出邀請帖，邀請天下各路豪傑參加比武擂臺，大顯身手。我們期待藉由各位武林高手的功力加乘，期待台灣社會與STS學界開拓對這領域的視野，豐富這方面的知識。我們期待研究者能採取的立足點是為了促進性別、階級與族群的平等，這樣才能施展批判的力道，期待累積社會改革的動力。我們也歡迎相關議題的整理與報導，可以研究紀要的形式刊出，為日後可能的研究發展方向注入鮮活的創意想像。
